Kari M. Visser-Robel, O.D.
Dr. Visser-Robel received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 1994. She also received a Bachelor's degree of Vision Science from Ferris State University in 1992.
Dr. Visser-Robel began working in the optometry field in 1993 as an extern at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. She learned how to perform primary care examinations with concentration on ocular diseases as well as how to perform pediatric evaluations.
Dr. Visser-Robel then became an extern at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She performed complete low vision evaluations of visually impaired patients.
Shortly after, Dr. Visser-Robel was an extern at Henry Ford Hospital in Taylor, Michigan. She provided primary care examinations with management and treatment of ocular diseases and refractive disorders. She also performed pediatric examinations, vision therapy, and provided complete contact lens evaluations and fittings.
In 1994, Dr. Visser-Robel was an extern at Allen Park VA Medical Center in Allen Park, Michigan. Her main duties were to diagnose and manage ocular diseases in patients with multiple medical and psychiatric afflictions. She also performed contact lens fittings for patients with Keratoconus and irregular corneas.
Following her externships, she began working as an optometrist at ABBA Eyecare in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was employed there from 1994-1995. She then moved back to Michigan and worked at Alpine Eyecare in Gaylord from 1995-2000.
In 2000, Dr. Visser-Robel began her own practice in Gaylord, Michigan. She examines for, and treats, dry eyes, diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
Bailey E. Pearson, O.D.
Dr. Bailey Pearson (formerly Gooding) received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 2018. She also received a Bachelor's of Science degree in 2014 at Alma College while playing on the Women’s Varsity Basketball team.
Dr. Pearson’s first experience working in the field was as an ophthalmic technician at our office. She worked during her summers off from college and gained experience working with patients and day-to-day office responsibilities.
In 2016, Dr. Pearson began performing eye examinations as an extern at The University Eye Center at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. There, she learned how to perform primary care examinations, pediatric evaluations, and contact lens examinations.
Dr. Pearson then became an extern at Pleasant Optics in Mount Pleasant, MI. She performed primary care examinations with a concentration on ocular disease, pediatric examinations, and contact lens fittings.
Following Pleasant Optics, Dr. Pearson was an extern at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan. She provided primary care examinations. She also managed and treated ocular diseases, and provided low vision care for the veterans.
Dr. Pearson’s last externship was at Andersen Eye Associates in Saginaw, Michigan. There she gained more experience with specialty contact lens fittings. She also treated and managed patients with ocular diseases and performed low vision examinations.
Following her externships, Dr. Pearson began working in our practice here in her hometown of Gaylord, Michigan. She will be providing primary care as well as treating and managing diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, eye infections, and dry eye. Dr. Pearson also performs contact lens fittings and pediatric eye examinations. She looks forward to establishing herself in Gaylord and giving back to the community where she grew up.
